So Close and yet so far......

As posted earlier last week, Spike Jonze' long awaited adaptation (no pun intended) of Sendak's classic, 'Where the Wild Things are' will be released this year! More importantly the First Trailer (See Below) was released online only hours ago. It looks, sounds and feels inspired and work worthy of a film able to stand on its own two feet rather than be relished as a straight to screen adaptation. However, there are some problems with the release dates. Big Time. However given the post-production pick-ups and reshoots that followed hapless and unhelpful studio meddling, it is to no surprise that the official release dates have it opening in the US on October 16.
Australia gets to wait two months, for December 10. After all the reported problems and the studio's apparent lack of respect for the creative genius of Jonze, its understandable the distribution wasn't granted a unified world wide release date.
Still. I've never been so inherently anticipating a film like this one for a while.
Time is pain.
(Music is Arcade Fire's, Wake Up. so apt for this clip I was singing along to it.)
