(My evening muse)
So I've come out of family hibernation having limited contact with my friends or gf for that matter. Not cool but I couldnt do much about it.While hanging with the fam, I got to see the new 'Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen'. It's an awesome movie with attitude and style, gleaming toys and robots, cinematically talented creations, shots and explosions coupled with blockbuster wit and humor. The lack of bright and intriguing plot adds to the overall experience. Critics state "it has no brains". Damn right it doesn't. But hold on. The movie is about robots, better yet transformers and they don't need brains. They're bad-ass action infused creatures that highly entertain. The human element merely installing the ensemble cast. Director Michael Bay has an extremely entertaining and winning formula, demonstrating his knack for extracting the immensity of every shot fusing it with stylistically superior and commercially unique sequences. This film has everything you want to have in it. It's That simple really. I enjoyed it and because of that, I fell in tune with Linkin Park and their blockbuster tagalong track/s, harking back to the great 90's blockbusters with the accompanying release tied rock/pop anthems, namely to serve as a new way for waning bands or individuals to be 'rediscovered' ie. Aerosmith with their 'Armageddon' (Also a Michael Bay film) tag along "Don't wanna miss a thing"
Michael Bay is still manufacturing and reinventing the summer blockbuster, every new one, improving on the last, producing and enhancing the entertainment factor and giving us what we want for our 'visual pleasure'. He's cutting edge technically and cinematically. Just don't count on him ever writing one of his movies, let alone caring who writes them. I imagine the deaf have alot more fun at his films. Kind of. Visually speaking.
So these Linkin Park tracks are kick-ass. Nuff said. It's my soundtrack to the week.
