Here are two varying examples of such.

She's Got It presents a medley of sampled voice overs, layered brass and horns with a bassline that punctuates the chorus and repetitive cry, 'She's Got it'. Funk temperaments prevail as the cacophony of all this, car horns included, is a testament to the man.

Classy Lady on the other hand is a percussion lined congo hive of jive that proclaims all the right notions for the devotion and love for that lady.

I came across an immeasurable Goldmine of euro-beat, Italo and synth pop for 1980-85 (roughly) in one. This pot of gold yielded alot of dance gems but mostly, ignited a "similar artists" recommendation list I accumulated just from their related links. There is so much to love about eurobeat, even though to glean such a library, it can occasionally (and critically) sound all the same, however those true diamonds amongst the placid sea of Italo are the ones that dare to be different. With memorable and addictive hooks, synth breakdowns, and vocal transitions that need to be heard, to be believed. Goldmine. The producers here range from Shep (of the Pettibone variety) to Ben Liebrand - talents in their own rights that revise and retouch, some already smooth tracks.

Came across a few tracks of Wham! from their first album 'Fantastic'. It's alot of fun, pop inflected tunes that range from quasi-emotional journeys of love, light and life. A few rockier numbers and other synth pop influenced structures, the below (rare instrumental remixes) feature a very spaced out slower track, pinch hit by softer keys that are overwhelmed when the original arrangement comes in. Sheds alot of light on the early talent and creative expression of George Michael, irrespective of personal circumstances, the music stands alone as emotionally charged, rock infusions drizzled in dance.

This was one of those Ebay 'watched' items that I came across while perusing some fellow 12inches online.

It was the front cover that initially took my interest before I even tracked down the artist via some random ebay music postings and such. Recently while on a forum, a later release of his came up and I only then recalled the love affair I had had with that front cover. 'Stargazer' (1979 TK Records) was his second album (pictured) however one his most popular achievements was his credit for writing Madonna's 'Material Girl'. While his disco inflected tunes included 'Do Ya Wanna Get Funky With Me' and 'Dance With Me', I've got the piano ballad titular track here and also his 1984 hit, a eurobeat synth pop extravaganza remixed by Chris Lord-Alge. Unfortunately, It would appear a career-ending case of tinnitus befell Mr Brown in the earlier 90's as these days he enjoys retirement among the stars (pardon the pun).

The proto-disco and collectively golden syrup of Canyons production cues are much the fuzz and glow of heat and seabird flight. The vibes and shimmering musicians are now treading water beyond the DJ booth and their original productions will culminate into an album next year.
However, we have a taste of the first lead single that will be released in full early November. 'My Rescue' is not what I was expecting, but am pleasantly surprised and a huge fan of the tune. With similar production virtues to that of musical mates Tame Imapla and their label trio Pond, this Perthquake vibe is definitely one to savour under the Australian sun. The song's piano driven chorus and vocal highlights are the stable mates that will transcend this jam into the summery heights from which forth it will descend upon any summer sun filled day, evening or night, Sunday or Monday, its alarming how effective the lyrics might just end up while your in the sun.

Finally coming through the pipeline -(Here's an Interview I had with him back in April)- Timothy Sullivan's release has come at a most glorious timing. Featuring Moon (minus a vocal track that was left out from a previous demo) and Wrong, its a low-slung glistening trailblazer of permutations that would develop between the inter-dimensions of sound & vision. It's mapping where we all ought to go, nodding to nostalgia and embracing the present, Das Moth is truly a reflection of changing times amongst constant memories. Well done Tim. Bit of Bowie here, being presented very neatly in the form of an edit and the original. Quite simply it cuts out the chorus of Loving the Alien - a single from Bowie's 'Tonight' (RCA 1983) album that cashed in on his 'Let's Dance' fame of '82. While Loving the Alien was one of only two songs on the album actually written by the man, it was confessed to be over-produced in hindsight, whereby Bowie admitted it was more powerful with the lyrics backed by a more simpler accompaniment. However after listening to the edit before the original, I like the elements that are built on in the former, and the chorus thats so key in the latter.

After Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Bowie departed from the sexually ambiguous rock 'n' roll to find himself in the arms of his American audiences, living in the expanses of the USA. Entrenched in the glam grip of L.A he became a plastik R'n'B fused lean machine of record making prowess featuring heavily, the saxophone and also a friendly working relationship with none other than John Lennon (He covered The Beetles cosmic soarer 'Across The Universe' and featured Lennon's backing vocals in 'Fame'). The apogee of this 'period' in the artists life would yield his 'Young Americans' album that featured the titular track as one of his classic hits. Bowie broke into mainstream seventies, from Aladdin Sane to the Berlin Sessions (witch involved alot of Brian Eno and alittle Iggy Pop), there was a lot of Bowie on show in the most humble, masochistic , intimidating and vulnerable of his career. From the U.K to the USA and then back to Europe, Bowie traversed music style and taste while collaborating and creating what was essentially the longevity of success that bridged his Rock 'n' Roll Suicide to the high fashion of the 80's Let's Dance attitude.

Introducing...

Along comes the musical funk and electronic beep-bop of this mid- eighties UK seven piece, 'The Cool Notes'. Symptomatic of early eighties dance-pop, it found a basic soul sound that encouraged the vocal and instrumental talents of the group to thrive between the years of 1984-86. They only ever released the one album in 1985, 'Have a Good Forever' and it contained enough singles to stretch releases for another year upon its release before the band folded.

Lets start:

My Love is Hot

This is something that permeates the dancefloor jive. Heat, musk and sweat while probing that move that oozes dance and funk - its all about the sharp shifting notation and gesticulations. It's not hot and heavy like a steam machine, but light enough to smile and dig the beat amongst electronic key strokes. Funk and boogie woogies to the max.

Spend the Night

Their major commercial success, hitting no.11 on the charts in '85. It's a carry over of the funk instilled on 'My Love is Hot', while accessing the groups strength in vocals (by Lorraine McIntosh), it's awash with minor synths that create an overall polished track worthy of a most successful single.

I Love You

The intro to this number was just an ambush of sexually explicit and implicating images from popular culture. That instrumentation from strings to sex, I mean saxophone, with deep lyrical embellishment where love is melded with all the classical elements that Barry White made a living off. Hot and heavy conditions expected.

This group is so cool, that when they go to bed at night, sheep count them.

In light of the incumbent fanaticism and fervent bandwagoning that will be taking its course over the next month (or less), I have given myself an opportunity to take a gander at the local music scene coming (jsut another tip off to the Canyons bois) out of this great country (albeit not my native one).

Canyons.

Do all - say all, play all, score all - these guys have it down. It's not hype, not style, but class with a stylus. An unrelenting eclecticism and hoarding of dance and disco, baleric and beatbox, tropical and sub tropical, I think I'm starting to pick on their wavelengths. With their class(y monikers) and moreso music taste - their original and remixing/producing output is sensually tingling, every new track, mix, dub or remix is in my itunes and I enjoy them all equally.

With the Midnight Juggernauts releasing their new LP just this past week, my interest has been more than pricked by this sudden fresh new material. Simultaneous revelation of Turkish Prison, a dude behind one of the stronger Voltage 'All Night' remixes (yet to be posted) & one of the better Dystopia mixes, turns out to be the guitarist and sideman from the Juggers, and upon internet digging, discovered a trio of Vital Signs remixes, one by every member of the band. The Michael Zager Band.

White Disco, so classy it striped every social sect of its curtains and invited everyone round to his place for some peace and love. For the people, he makes Disco, and for Mr Zager, we Disco Dance, boogie chug and glide to the soaring tunes.

First heard this one during a barely attended to Canyons set at a regrettable (although not entirely, after all it was my first experience of Canyons, a blessing in disguise) unsavory music festival that featured the likes of Deadmau5 (not a hater, just not my scene).

The lyrics were circling in my head for days after the festival and after some simple searching, unravelled the tapestry of white disco to reveal Zager in the middle of it. "Your body, my body, everybody move your body" Pure and unadulterated Disco. The Canyons vinyl sleeve artwork was a the biggest indicator if not the simplest, wit three large repeated titles "DISCO< DISCO< DISCO" on top of each other.

The (ah ah eh eh) Let's All Chant (ooooh ooooh) is explosive in it's instrumentals; there's a bassoon/clarinet, synth harpsichord, trumpet, and piano solo that features in the last 3rd of this 7 minute journey of 45rpm dancefloor groove. If these movements don't get you on the dance floor - nothing will.

I've got a source indicating this NY native is heading down under later this month (courtesy of Future Classic) to play a few dates. A beginner in the uptake of this Justin Miller/DFA BFF, only recently through his tracks appearing and popping up all over the place (i.e. masterful mixes new and old) have I gone out and searched for a lot more of his tracks and surprise surprise, the more you learn, the more you like, while realizing that this man has a groove (what type exactly I'll have to wait to classify until I see him in the flesh). However, echoing the masterful disco oddities, balearic, early house and tad acid-funk tunes of TVITC favorite sons, Canyons - its no wonder this DFA associated link sticks out so vibrantly to me.

I was first introduced to this track by GLOVES via a radio mix he made last year. Ascribed a "this is where things get deep" description, it really does deliver the opposite to an overlapping and overbearing load of that typical house sound, instead just delivering the deep beat and tune that works so well - its enjoyed.

Dan Whitford the founder of Cut Copy launched Cutters Records in 2006, creating a new outlet for a community of musicians, collaborators and friends to release music that was inspired by, for and with each others music tastes in mind that involved a broad array of genre's unified by the synthetic and digital music sphere. After launch releases of K.I.M and The Midnight Juggernauts who have both grown exponentially in notoriety and musical mastery here in Australia, if not on the blogosphere, 2009 saw the label relaunched to cater for Melbourne's Knightlife II EP. After a few months hiatus, I caught wind of Cutters Records releasing at least two to three 12" in 2010. It was more an interest in both these artists that brought me back to Cutters Records and their "fostering of quality music", now in the trusted hands of its G-Man, Knightlife.
So here's a spiel, a spot, some free press, an interview, some tunes and hopefully a neat little grab into the prospective releases of label of win 2010, Cutters Records.

Timothy Sullivan is in Japan today, flying the ex pat flag, quite simply enjoying himself. Running a series of parties in Tokyo's nightlife of Le Baron, it would seem he's fallen into the musical fold of expats, sharing his same distant relationship with home. His membership in Gimme Um -where each member originated from a different continent- typifies his musical mould of exploring and sharing different experiences and genre's of music.

Swooning over His Tokio Disko Mix (previously posted) that he released earlier this year, it's been a long while between drinks for his moniker Das Moth. With a steady release of tracks on his myspace for a second 12", his first release on Cutters is slightly more enigmatic, save for this video teaser from his recent QLD trip.

Recently, I was lucky enough to garner a moment of this worldly purveyor and exceptional creator of music's time for a chat.

BK: What is it like in Japan right now?

DM: Japan is kinda coming to the end of Sakura. Which was really beautiful. The weather has been kinda up and down lately, but that adds to the attraction of Tokyo.

What's some good music you've been listening to during your recent travels?

I've been listening to more music now than I ever have. Maybe a substitute for not writing much lately and trying to find the inspiration to write again. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Bruce Springsteen, The Boys, Ramones, Peter Green & Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Earliest Musical memory / first album you owned?

My first musical memories were sitting passenger side in my Dad's work van listening to Tom Petty, U2, The Doors & Meatloaf. The first album I ever got was a cassette of Alice Coopers' "Poison" album in 1989. I played it till its death or till at least cds were cooler.

How would you describe your musical journey so far? From the first instrument your played, to Damn Arms to DJing. Has it been overall an enjoyment infused into your day-to-day life?

My first instrument was a kid’s acoustic guitar that didn't last long. I think I was about 8 and saw Slash do his guitar solo in "November Rain". Which intern made me think it would be a good idea to play in the rain. The guitar fell apart soon after. I'd played in a bunch of bands before Damn Arms. Ranging from Metal to Punk to Instrumental Indie to Jazz. If I didn't do music I'm not sure what I would do. Enjoyment has always been the main reason for doing it. Djing is a weird thing. I still don't get the allure to watching a Dj compared to a live band. But that's just me. I do enjoy playing records out, but it's not something I would want to make a career out of.

Have you found that your time at Le Baron and being outside of Australia, has, if at all, influenced your musical abilities or your own music tastes?

Coming to Japan has made me think about things a lot more. Music being one of them. This countries ability to inspire me to do things is insane. Whether it is music, photography, putting on a party or riding a bike for hours to a park. Since I've stopped touring and constantly writing music I've started appreciating music a lot more. I've now started to write songs on piano, which is kinda silly. Considering I have no idea what I'm doing. It's a challenge and it's exciting.

What's the development of your Das Moth Material been like? (Working with Joel Belgium, I heard it was mostly unfinished material by the time you left for Japan.) When will Das Moth get a Release?

You'll be seeing and hearing a release sooner than you think. One of the main things I wanted to do with Das Moth was not to rush it. Only write music when I felt like it. I may be walking down the street and see something that makes me want to write music or makes me not want to write anything at all. I spent a lot of time pushing the "feeling's" I wasn't feeling out. Retrospectively, listening to past work. I have mixed emotions towards a lot of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm super proud of it. I guess it's how things change.

Describe your influences for your Das Moth project? what's it sounding like?

I can honestly say my influences for doing music aren't really related to music. It's more about being inspired to write. When I was listening to Bruce Springsteens' "Fade Away" and saw a photo i'd taken of someone I was missing at the time. That made me write a song for my second 12" called "I'd Be Lying [If I Said I Didn't]. It sounds nothing like Bruce. But I can hear how I felt at the time. Friends or seeing an old couple drinking coffee together. It can be anything. The first Das Moth 12" sounds really good! I'm super super happy with it. Is that an answer? The songs on my myspace might not sound like my release that's coming out on Cutters. But I can see a theme throughout all of the songs. Even if the "genre" is different.

I would imagine your address book is quite wealthy in terms of musical collaborators, have you met some amazing people while in Japan?

Japan is full of amazing people. Musically, besides Gimme Um I haven't met many others I've wanted to work on music with. I've met film makers, photographers & fashion designers that have had incredible music taste. The conversations with them are endless. Collaborating with them on soundtracks and runway music is something I can see us doing in the future.

How did your involvement in Gimme Um come about? Care to shed some light on the outfit?

In July 2008 I went to Japan to Dj a few great parties and Gimme Um were playing at one of them. We instantly got along. I thought they were really awesome and trying to do something different. Ryan [Guitarist/Singer] & Pierre [Synth Bass] have been the solid line-up since they started 2 years ago. They went through a bunch of drummers and second guitarists. We'd stayed in contact since we met in Tokyo and when I mentioned to Ryan I was returning to Tokyo to live he asked me to join. Of course I said yes. At that same time the now Drummer [Gui] was asked to play as well. Then the line-up/team has been solid since.

Other than music, do you posses any other passions or interests? I noticed you have a fair few tatts, do you like getting inked?

I really enjoy photography & reading books on musicians/cultures that fascinate me. Lately I've started posting a photo a day on my blog [dasmoth.wordpress.com] along with a song that I'm feeling at the time. I've also started working on a magazine with the drummer of Gimme Um called GUIM MAG. It will be a collection of photography, music, art, short stories & general things that excite us. As for tattoos, of course "I like" getting inked. But it's more the memories that stay with them. They were all done for a reason and I still find it hard to talk about what they mean to people. When it comes to summer, they are definitely high on the topic list. ha. Plans to get more are always there too.

What's on your calendar for 2010?

2010 is pretty busy. Currently in pre production for the Gimme Um album, which is super exciting! We're recording in June and hopefully it will be released around September/October. I'm working on the music for a short film about Sakura by a very talented friend too. I've always admired soundtracks and their composers and hopefully in the future I could do more of those kind of projects. The first Das Moth 12" for Cutters is done now. Just getting a few remixes done and aiming to be released around September/October too. Then after all releases are out, I guess it's time to tour. Gimme Um will be heading around Japan and then heading to the UK/Euro. We are planning to head to Australia too. Time will tell. Also, I'll most probably be coming back to Australia to do some launch parties with the Cutters Crew before the year is out. God.. reading all that makes me slightly tired.

Care to shed some light on an incident from your Damn Arms’ days - what’s this about the time you left Simon (Parker, Drummer) asleep on a plane because he smelt like booze so bad?

Yeah.. Probably wasn't the nicest thing to do. But alas it was funny at the time. God Bless Mr Parker.

What's your one record/song that justifies a good night out?

Ramones - This Ain't Havana.. before I go out. Peter Green - Little Dreamer or Ennio Morricone - Rodeo.. when I get home.

'Be -Yourself, Be -Xentric' feat. Interview & Exclusive Mix

For the better part of 6 months, I've been idly back-channeling a wonderfully amiable, knowledgeable and fledging DJ, on the other-side of the world, discussing (of all things) local Australian music and talent. With the help of the internet, this Welshman known as Be-Xentric has been able to set up communications and his own information highway to connect with his desried flava of tunes and tastes that aren't always so easily accessible to him (namely the beats permeating from the offices of Bang Gang 12inches HQ which is just down the street from here). Havinga go at producing and creating his own tunes during the last 12 months, 'Be' has been of late, hard at re-tuning his sound, just recently showing it off with his smooth redux of the gloss all over Flight Facilities Track, 'Crave You'.
Probably the most informed dude in all of Great Britain on all things Bang Gang and co, he was kind enough to lend some yarns and show off some sharp reflexes (with a bonus exclusive mix) to my questions, as I found out just where this guy is coming from and how he got here:

Bekayole: Yo Be, so for those who don't know, Where are you hailing from?

Bxentric: I was born in North Wales, but I now chill alot in the Lincolnshire country working on my ideas then lay it down in the london studio.

First musical memory from your childhood?

Sitting my my mums car on the way to the swimming baths one summer and she played "Sweet Dreams" - the voice of Annie Lennox hit me there and then.

Did you collect many records during your teens? and if so what did u listen to?

As a teenager I was into sport and music back then, was not really prominent. I basically had stuff by NWA and Tupac.

What led to your getting behind the decks and starting out as a DJ? Was there a musical background or just a love for music?

What led me to being behind the decks was from a bet with a very good friend of mine in the xmas of 06. My friend had just bought a 2000 capacity nightclub in the city of liverpool and I was working there looking after the customers chilling and talking, making them feel welcome.

SoIi was upstairs and the balcony was above the dj booth it was like some sort of religious thing where the crowd are praying to the priest (dj). From that moment I wanted to be the priest preaching the music. So in that pub i bet my friend in one year i could do the same as his dj's, which was to perform a two hour set in front of 2000 peolple.

I purchased two technics 1210's mk 2's and a two channel numark mixer in Jan '07 and set about teaching myself. A friend gave me a book and that explained how to beat match and then all I did for 3 hours every night for that year was record myself with a tape deck and as I fell asleep I would listen back to what I had acheived. During the year I got my self onto myspace and slowly got chatting with dj's/producers, the most prominent one would be a guy named Iain Bogg (Riotous Rockers), During the end of '07 my friend sold the club, so I played a couple of small gigs for a promoter that was cool enough to book me, but the big one came when Iain 'Boggy' sent me a contact to a night called 'The Liars Club' run by Rickey Haley at a well known nightclub in Nottingham called Stealth. I was booked for the end of Jan '08 to support 'Round Table Knights'. Next via myspace was another prominent character in my adventure called 'Pete Carvell' (gash dj's) he booked me to play at another great club called 'Sankeys' in manchester. In April of that year I was invited back to support Jaymo and Andy George (Moda), this is when I met and learnt of their up and coming night called Moda, from this moment on I have pretty much been taken on by them and was to have my debut for Moda in October 08 ten months from my first big nightclub booking, I was invited back a month later and from this moment I was to become a Moda Resident DJ.

To date, tell us about your own turn in making and producing music? what's it been like?

So in the start of '09 I decided the logical step would be to start getting into making my own music so figured I would get into production, this has led to me slowly finding my own style in the battlefield of great producers out there. Two guys that bore the brunt of me hassling them at the start have been Russ Chimes and Grum, I don't know how they put up with me, but they were cool and never complained with my constant barrage of mixes and questions. At first they were the two guys I would listen to for inspiration and production style and this is very prominent in my two tracks that are around the internet called Miami and Vice. I think once I started Listening more deeper into older productions from stuff like 70s R'n'B/funk/disco and even further back to afro/cuban jazz I have found my own style. So yeah its been a steep learning curve finding a style that fits me and my personality.

Over the last year, from your first EP - how would describe your difference in sound - a process of evolution or change in direction?

My inspiration at the start came from the two producers I mentioned, the difference in sound has changed for me, I would say it's been an evolution over time and being able to feel comfortable to create my own style, which led to the new remix and your next question.

How did the remix of Flight Facilities 'Crave You' come about?

Basically I discovered these dudes as I discover so much other great talent and thats through myspace. They had produced a song for some real nice dudes called 'The Lowbrows'. This led to me searching for more of their music and so I figured why not go straight to the source. One day I sent them a mail via myspace asking for them to kindly share some of their other productions as I could not find any 320 copies of their newest remix - with djing I like to have the best quality I can use. Anyway they were awesome and sent me their stuff and yeah, a friendship from their came about. One day I got nosey and asked them if they were working on their own material in which we all now know they were, for that awesome single 'Crave you'. I thought I would be cheeky and ask for the parts as I had discovered my guitarist had wanted to work on something with him and yeah, this is how i came to remix 'Crave you'. Just so your aware it is no longer me in the studio as a singular the guitarist is now a full production partner with me so Bxentric is growing, their are other artists working with Bxentric on new material fusing live with virtual.

Besides those pilots over at FF, you seem to have strong backchannels with Australian music folk particularly those pertaining to the Bang Gang 12inches side of things- who else do you have contact with here in Aus?

Ah ha I just love the producers over in Aus man! you dudes have such a great attitude to music and the style suits my sets, its very carefree and fun and it just so happens most of the artists are on Bang Gang, so I just introduce my self and get chit chatting.

Tell us about your billing at the Moda parties and in turn how your such good mates with Jaymo & Andy?

I'm the warm up dj for the Moda parties and love to create a great atmosphere ready for when the headlines come up. Warming up for me is as important as being the headline, my knowledge for warming up has come from a guy I mentioned Iain Bogg. I have come across so many guys playing bangers at 10 pm totally going for it haha and the dudes all gurning, its not a cool look. For me I like to get the sexy ladies shaking their bums, so I start the night with some smooth disco. Where the ladies go the dudes follow, like a carrot on a stick, my job is done. My friendship with Jaymo and Andy as I have mentioned came from them seeing something in me from such an early stage of my career and bringing me to Moda. This year you can catch me in Ibiza getting things started for their parties, along with Ukraine, Sweden and UK dates for a new fresh upcoming night called JUST - its all about great music and no ego, we as the dj's wanna party just as much. I have been known to forget I'm the dj sometimes, whilst I get into the crowd to have a dance myself, there's pictures of this if you search hard enough.

What's that one track that makes a great night out?

I guess the one track that everyone reacts to is Breakbot's new song

Any future plans for 2010?

-Get things official (lol)

-First official single release

-Create a video for it

-Remix a cool character oh and he happens to be Australian!

What are you other interests outside of music?

I dont have much time for anything else, I pretty much live for music, so its important to me that I spend my free time with my girlfriend who is so supportive, god knows how she puts up with me. Also my family is so important to me, so I also go back to the country and relax with my Dad and Sister.

NY outfit The Drums have released their 2nd EP Best Friends, and its awash with a droned out lyricism that makes you feel engulfed with a dark grey industrial hue - Ostensibly a continuation of their appropriation of the manchester sound. Typically, their melodies have you bursting with gestating colour, splashing about - a strong visual soundscape- but its the solitary of the notes, the hollow echoes and an inherent fleeting vibe and sensation that have you attach yourself to the songs on the Best Friends EP. Its a great example of their variation, duplicity and overall maturation of sound. Worth the sun drenched fun and momentarily brooding times.

A new segment devoted to simplifying ordinances around here. 'Soaring the Sequences' will aim to give you all a deposition of disco, italo and all the old school gems we come across. 'Indeterminate Space' meanwhile (of which this is the first installment) will present to you all your new and synchronic needs, more in the fashion of mixtapes and the ilk. Yet for the first round of the new 'Space' I'll be attempting to justify the presence of a new Bottin remix (like I need to) and the likes of my personal favorite remix of 'Crave You', along with a dance floor giggolo rendition of Munk at the hands of Juan, of the Macleans.

After all the hyperventilating that had been taking place over this release, I was trying to pick up my pulse after being left in awe at its incumbent golden gilded lyricism and craftsmanship, dripping further into a vacuum of harmonic catharsis. However the remixery service of this can be a tricky dilemma, with many overlapping directions to take, I ultimately find this, the subtle soft phonic approach a winner - leaving this song on the lazy tape deck on a fleeting afternoon and out of the bass thuggery of dark defiled dungeons of the nightlife.

I've caught this a few times during my past few outings to the "pub' aka beer cafe, stuck in some, incandescent montage of a rudimentary mish-mash of some classic old footage where the drowned out Doors are cut to the party whip Blondie. Tres cool sound emitting.
I really hate the cheese that is mash-ups - in the contemporary frame at least, this is something bigger, it transcends both originals. I'd play it. Heaps.

The power of the interweb and the confluence of music budding punters and artists alike, have come together in a simple yet exciting coalition of the willing. I've become increasingly aware of musically inclined collectives propagating their talents, interests and musical abilities through their respective nights held at many capital cities across Australia. Firstly discovering the small low-key niche trend in Sydney, I followed it to Melbourne (the two most heavily mediated centers of music in this country - a fact I do not support) before tracking the trail westfold, through to Adelaide and not two moons ago, Brisbane.

Amongst these respective cities and their elated, superficial, lazy and occasionally spoon fed nightlife and puntership, there exists some collectives and memberships - united fronts of knowledgeable - the sum of knowledgends - people that respect and nurse the underground to propagate an informed, thespian and enthusiastically enthralling 'pastime' of music that existed before 1997. Of course this all relates to taste, and everyone has their different strokes, but for the viewership of this blog and of past music trends where reliving the loft parties of NY while burrowing yourself into the burgeoning Chicago house sound while recreating the united states of Disco is more than a trend. Discovering the fact that there is quality in reliving the past of popular dance music and the thrill of uncovering and discovering a history of records, of tunes, of production and the individuals that coloured this historical pallet its quite an enviable journey to re-enact for the punter who consumes these forms. What treasures. These collectives do more than re-enact, they strive to command the current inter-relationship we have with past tunes and in its place encourage new music that replicates the fun of it all.

To highlight these united fronts, I hope to encourage you use your internet addicted time to explore their web portals and conjure your own appreciation of their activities and respective interests. Thus is Tres Cool™.

The past few months have been weird for Ben and Meself. We've moved in together, told each other to get fucked on a number of occasions (Ben's mostly thought it, I've said it), almost every weekend with Marcus and another Good friend Marty we've come a little bit closer to God on the dancefloor, been backstage at LCD Soundsystem at Field Day, unexpectedly decided I am going to Uni this year along with Ben so have O-Week next week, and currently we are in the process of looking for another place to live (we've only got one and a half weeks until we have gotta get out of where we are now. Yikes! Hello boarding house). Ben's still unemployed and madly in love with the internet though.

The word 'uninspired' mainly comes to mind when describing my state of mind right now. In my vastly wild and erotic fantasies, moving out was going to be one huge love, blood, weed and ecstasy fuelled orgy of laughs, dancing and general hilarity. Leaving home was supposed to open up a Poppy field of sexy opportunities; everybody that passed through our home (both dudes and the abundant number of girls that would be inevitably coming in and out) walking around in nothing but underwear (actually guys can also wear a hawaiian shirt if they are so inclined) and surviving on nothing but watermelon and each other's good company. We would have intimate group baths together where we would all pile in, smoke bongs and discuss the evils of technology. After we started to wrinkle and got out, we would have a dance, read books ( not blogs) by the heater and talk about our favourite sharks. The cold and unforgiving world of the internet would have no place in our warm House of Green Love!

In harsh reality, an internet connection exists in our house on Darley Road and it sucks. It drains the will to live life out of all of the 4 members of our household, including Meself. When another guy isn't watching a million downloaded back to back episodes of 'How I Met Your Mother' on his computer, someone else is shouting at 4AM while they shoot people in the face on Call of Duty. And when that guy isn't doing that, Ben's zombie eyes are morphing into squares as he trawls through the Never-Ending Blogosphere, and lives for his favourite DJ's next Twitter update. What he is searching for, while the sun shines outside his window and the dwindling Summer days count down (there's only 2 weeks left!), I will never understand. Even when I get straight home from work I'll sometimes find myself jumping on fucking Facebook for a stalk before I even say hello to the others, then two hours later I'll realise my time (and youth) was sucked through the black hole of the internet known as social networking. Or I'll lose a couple of hours sleep because I've been mindlessly downloading albums I won't even properly listen to.

To be fair, we have fun at Darley Road too. Monday and Tuesday nights when we cook and eat together are great times. The same goes for when we go for a swim. The others have also been going to the pub together at least once a week, but I've been working so I've missed out which sucks. It just seems that a lot of the Darley Road household time is spent separate and on the computer, and that includes Meself.

In short, moving out of home has been kind of lame so far. However, I know it's not only the internets fault, it's mine too. Now I sound like a big weirdo, but I've had a couple of these dreams about Australia being invaded. It's probably because we rented Red Dawn recently and I've been thinking about Tomorrow When the War Began a lot, but maybe they are metaphorical premonitions. Technology is invading our generation's day to day lives and I honestly believe one day it will destroy the fun life our parents knew, and which we will probably be the last to know. The internet, and especially Facebook at the moment, attacks certain aspects of people's brains in much the same way as heroin does to a junkie's. It's like when I played Sims for the first time and was obsessed with it for the next few months. My time not spent playing Sims was spent thinking about the next time I'd get to play Sims. Then one day I just got bored of it and haven't played it ever again. I hope that's what everybody one day does with Facebook and eventually the internet.

But hey, I don't want to bring so many bad vibes to this year because I actually see change-a-comin'. 2010 is going to be great and filled with amazing adventures for us.

So basically if you read this, please just leave a comment to give Ben some inspiration to stop looking for some obscure 80s disco album to download in 320kbps and come to the beach with me.

Favorite things become one - for having a distinct dislike for mash-ups in the blogosphere, spare a thought for covers. With more artistic and self-indulgent room to move, it can unfathomably form a far more enjoyable expression of tracks you've never heard of, or only heard once - its the form transcending the remix (in more ways than you think). On this occasion, I have some trade-off covers between some personal favorites on the scene, Friendly Fires prepubescent synth shuttle meets the learned analog shuffle and snare of DFA's own Holy Ghost! (I heard this on their recent B.I.S playlist). Quite the meddling of magic, Holy Ghost! spare no expense with their version of 'On Board', the Celestial Choir of DFA employed, its by far the more get disco of the duo, however the FF rendition of 'Hold On' holds its own (pardon the pun) extricating every ounce of innocent bleep jazz and deep disco that so simply floats with the bouncy vocals of frontman Ed Macfarlane.

We're not huge bloggers of the bangERZ formula here, thats not to say some us don't mind that sweated out, wig out, inebriated dance voodoo that follows, but this is a rare off-chance I can share with you something different and alittle more heavy - a personal favorite project/band of mine that has a friendly affinity with the classiest of bangERZ boys, The Ed Banger crew. For the last 16 months I've been following within the deep underground grottos of the internets, a sound previously going by the moniker Poney Poney. These french dudes, Antoine Hilaire and Flo Lyonnet (too cool) have reassembled and reformed their duo into 'Jamaica' (perhaps due to the likeness to the 'Pony Pony Run Run' band). The tagline(album?): "No Problem".
Their tune is French Touch inspired Rock, with juicy licks and a heavy dose of enthusiastic electric guitar manipulation - Phoenix meets Justice- and they play it well with their upcoming album produced by Xavier de Rosnay of Justice and Peter Franco, a FOH engineer with Daft Punk. I have some material from their Poney Poney Days, an EP and the like, however their new album is due soon, along with a video for their new single "I Think I Like U2" which I'll post here when it hits viral.

So winding down the 09, springing up in the big 10, We here at TVITC have had a rollercoaster ride ripped in our musical conciseness as we won big. And ladies and gentlemen, we mean B-I-G. A fitting end to our past 12 months, and an even more surreal gateway to our future 12.

Winning Fuzzy's Festival competition, we had VIP access to Shore Thing and Field Day. For Sydneysiders its a double-headed, back to back where some people can barely make one, let alone both depending on their respective incapacitation.

We braved it though, expenses paid accommodation and transfers, it was living it like all the artists we oggle over on the interweb weekly. We had as much fun as possiblex10 (paying homage to our memory of it) even kicking on NYE/D at the Goddamn good vibes of Sydney's best dancteria GoodGodSmallClub for all its vibing magic .

The real treat in all of this, not even on NYE but during NYD, was the moment we were granted backstage access at Field Day, entering the disco den of LCD Soundsystem's set. It was pure DFA, as the groove tranced us to a comforting level, taking in the experience of 'behind the veil' so to speak. Photos were snapped, Ollie met a Dewaele Brother...

...and Juan (of The Juan MacLean was grabbing ice cream). I was even more privileged as I caught up with Knightlife (Cutters Records Stalwart) and got the down low on the happenings in his world, gaining some invaluable info for my Cutters Records post ('Coming Soon' now for the last 2 months, hang in there) and overall just hearing of his appreciation and experiences of festivals.

The Disco vibes worked overtime and were flowing side by side the champagne and soon the sun set low, and so did the lights. We left backstage to catch the end of LCD, gleaming infront of the crowd, a 24 hours not easily forgot.

Bang Gang Twelve Inches new German oufit, Polargiest have finally arrived to the blogosphere alas with a shroud of mystery. Most music blogs have found a highly unuasal deadend when it comes to finding out anything about them. With no myspace (doesn't every band have one?) or other familiar portals of the interweb, most of this blogs have just been fortunately forced to describe and critically glow at their tunes - a more developed musical write-up as opposed to some blogging norm.

Its tempered rollerdisco (in the faintest expression) of the down low sense. A steady crescendo, the tunes are there to be played with, of the accompanying remixes on their EP, The Bang Gang crew deliver exciting riffs and shockwave rips of the beat, while fellow germanic Tensnake treats them with a dose of xlyaphone over a soulful scent of sax. It's all very party party with 'Home From The Can', but their other original work 'Use Me' can lead many a listeners to another sensation, somewhere down the lines a la Massive Attack with a slightly more dance infused sensation of minimal dynamics.

The Avalanches. Something to wet your whistle with.

In anticipation of the tentative October release of their sophomore album, while delving into the abyss of Avalanches speculation that has featured online for the last few years, I found this, 'When I Met You'. It's quite simply, an album -featuring- the Gimix mix - a mix sequence of tracks that were the inspirational basis/foundation for 'Since I Left You' together with the original album. The actual splicing of their original material from 'Since I Left You' coalseced with the Gimix was completed by a couple of Brits that then packaged this little bootleg album to boot. They made alot of dosh no doubt.
Never the less, It's a great listen to all the way through. Nothing groundbreaking in the way of these golden oldie re-edits, but the album as a stand alone mix is emblematic of classical Avalanche panache and grace in track selection, only the gods of which could master.
Hats off to these Brits!

I've spent the last 2 days "acquiring" a Old Italo Disco and NRG compilation which is originally titled "Old Italo Disco & NRG" but it has some really cool tracks on it from people like Yvonne Kay, Click and Gino Soccio (who i believe had a few tracks in one of the Grand theft Auto games i'd guess Vice City) and a whole lot of other tracks, but the best part is that the majority of the tracks on the album are 12" mixes, re-edits or remixes so very handy if your got djing in mind but otherwise its still a great listen if your fortunate enough to come across the album, the pic above is the cover if it helps, and heres some of the stand out tracks:

Michael Di Francesco's Arithmatix! project has recently come to fruition among the slew of branched out individual work of the Van She Krew (re: Matt Van Schie's Saturday Night and Tomek Archer's Industrial Design work).

Arithmatix! takes a deep Italo throng approach with his Basanov rendition (space-aged disco-chugging badassery), feeling the Moog and Korg as the weapon of choice while his synth work and remixery is mastered in the form, reminiscent of early Van She Tech, with his treatment of Dragonette's track.

Flight Facilities will be the bros from Bang Gang 12inches generating most buzz this new year. Recently appearing (prematurely) on Aeroplane's December mix, their first original track, Crave You, has stolen the minds of many bloggers and fans alike. It's a solid piece that reminds me of the beautiful basics and of a song, and its many dynamics. Th gliding soft vocal, the simple and sophisticated breakdowns, with classic FF saxophone thrown in for musical magic. It will no doubt be the Destination (re: Damn Arms) of 2010, which means alot of local and international remixes (SCOOP!), covers and renditions. Evidence to the fact we're going to see alot of highs and lows of this beautiful track.

There are three parts to the enigmatic mystery of Sidwho? Part bassist of the live disco trio 'The Swiss', part 'live' Empire of the Sun and part genius of the cosmic disco and Italo traditions. He comes to the fore after his debut on Tim Sweeny's Beats in Space and after an immediate gloss of enjoyment and groovy euphoria, I delved into every resource of the interweb to unlock the mystery behind the music.

He's got a great array of tunes with his bass infused spacial disco mentality combined with glacial synth spans. Its 'great aussie' underground(ish) that lives in the the informative nether land of the Adults Arts Club domain. Very astute ponderings and creations of new age disco both reformative and reductive as well.

Give It a listen and break down the beats. Hopefully your sudden desire to 'find out more' will be have you finding out more new information or tracks that you are to kindly share with me. No joke.

Me and Ollie are descending on most likely our last 3 headed bender this side of the '09. And what a lineup of events to swing by. Seduced by the ambient racket and clatter of far off fairyland mystic tinged dust, Animal Collective (At the Enmore) will have us spellbound, cleared of all clutter in the mind, like an espresso to get things started to sooth and awaken the senses. We're headed to GoodGod after, for a dancefloor dose of down-beat, disco and balearic grooves in the fashion of one half of NY's Metro Area, Darshan Jesrani. A well recouped rest later, were getting out tinkly happy joy joy on at the Modular Christmas Party, Bondi Beach Hotel. So many acts and Dj's its an explosion of Christmas cheer & dancing.

Perth Bang Ganger, Shazam fills his latest interweb void with a flurry of remixes, capturing more of his pool party squeaks and synth dips which established him as an enjoyable tune maker earlier this year. Humbled by age, but enthralled by the possibilities of his soul sound, the remixes are layered with familiar dynamics of The Pool Party tracks of '08 and '09, possessing a cross section of tips, taps and 'funkerous' beat and squish dials. Hopefully more of his originals will surface in the new year, and continually explore the musical wonders at the hands of this poolside slinger.

Yama is the king of the disco re-hash with rich a sampling of a back catalogue only Ph.D's of the Discotheque and fellow librarians of music have access to, let alone knowledge of. Its what makes it all so 'gloving', like soft leather beats. I think I'm onto the foundation of his moniker...

It's no doubt the type of production we may come to expect from the Cutters Records stalwarts (to be posted upon soon).

His post EP remixery has deliverd some similar yet all the same, awesomeness. A cosmic piano riff (synth) of the GLOVES variety accompanies both renditions with each to their own tropical measures and anthemic gloats. The Scare's 'Could Be Bad', turns into a disco anthem of soaring vocals that empower the grotto inhabitants and urge them to be upstanding and dancing. Meanwhile the 'Rewrite' of Golden Bug's newbie, throws in the ingredients of a tropical summer's night dream. A variable vocal of a woman mixed with a good measure of jungle atmospherics dipped in vine-swinging bass-lines with 'For the King of the Jungle only' synth, added for that GLOVES nightlife touch.

Fab music blog, Toomanysebastians are turning Dejay's, as they branch out to support The Twleves in London in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, after trawling their blog, and the twitter of many european acts, I'm finding the club tracks of the northern hemisphere's weekend as they are scrawled on the walls of irrespective internet portals. From as much, I can simply deduce for you that Aeroplane are ripping it up. The belgian duo have broadened their music penchant since their return to europe after their successful, albeit watershed experience of Parklife.

The Aeroplane November Mix is a must-have, one of their strongest to date, the first half is a seamlessly coalesced cogruence of smooth bariotone disco, and some hot remixes from across the globe, some heightened by their exclusivity on the mix. The Palermo Disko Machine's latest track is as much a standout, as is the mixing of Villa's take on Music Go Music soaring into Sirisumo's remix of the Gossip. Pure unadulterated bliss, or somehting very much like it.

Some golden gems hidden in the brush were uncovered after some extensive and laborious at times, cruzing [sic] amongst some Valerie collective and Mullet records myspazz's and blogs, I've turned up a late batch of electro, synth goodness in the likes of Russia's Tesla Boy. A music video, remixes and originals all late to the party. These guys really espouse the live aspect of the music, the electric drums, korgs and moogs while juttering the soundscape with dance moves complimenting a surreal nightlife experience. They are the most accessible while being the most under-rated. Their 'Electric Lady' is transcended to the depths of night time antics by swedish synth maestro Odahl, while their rendition of Anoraak's one and only, is probably the most comprehensive and yet complimenting remix.

Lets blog outside the music box today. No sneakers here either. Thats for my side project, PEST. I thought maybe some art, but I'm not a fan of committing overkill of one of the internets most prestigiously traded equity of appreciation and communicable topics, Art & photography.
What else? Well I hope I can present a lowly branch of the mainstream art&photography tree, as far as the internet is concerned. Or maybe I'm just not reading the internet very well at all. Slight overkill of the arts here.
Architecture is a fascination of mine, willing to rather contain it as a strong interest, than actually become an architect, I love to observe and study it, become a student of appreciation if you will, whereby this coalesce of human natural forms is duplicated and represented, translated and housed. Architecture is a human extension of the simplest of action, to create the most complex of forms. I love it. It can most positively make you dream big, peaking into the future, of one constant in humanities future, buildings.

The Civic Underground has never known such terrifying scenes of brutal macabre grooves before fridays Radicool release Party. "The Ratio last night of guys to girls was spot on" commented one reveler (Ollie). So what went wrong/right? It's a great party mise en scène with mirrored walls covered in BG12" iconographic posters and balloons partnered with disco balls. Mod -u-lar peeps 'n' Co. everywhere. It was looking good as that first crisp cerveza went down.

The Party became a gregarious entente once we entered the hallowed grotto of the Civic where the smoke, mirrors and balloons were only outdone by the free flowing booze that oozed from the licking lips of the bang gang crew and the crowd. A Bang Gang Crew that - minus TVITC fav, GLOVES - was in full attendance of their local label signings . It was Cassian pulsating and testing the Underground sound system for 2 hours to start stirring the groove and funk. Jamie Doom wanted it turned up loud as Shazam set up his Ableton and Mac. That wasn't all that Doom was getting fidgety about either, 'balloon popping' sizzled his tempers and tantrums in the measure of a PSA to the eagerly grooving crowd. Overkill. However the decked out underground was well worth the entry fee. Bag Raiders poured into the cauldron of a dance floor, what sounded like a new track from their studious recordings before pumping the padded seats and walls with party tunes "till your dick falls off [sic]". Enter the night's apogee, two fellows (punters would know them as U-Go-B & Jimmy2sox) of the Sydney club circuit out in their new adventure, Flight Facilities. With pilot gear strapped on, they were cleared for takeoff as their Lowbrow's 'Dream In The Desert' rendition launched, soundtracking my disco trance dance from the bar to the DF with many a spilling of drink. Grandiose to say the least, a highlight nonetheless.

From that point the night was a rapturous blur of booze and grooves, glow sticks and party tunes. Hoodrat supplying a very ram shackled and liberating account for The Police as 'Roxanne' bookended the night for mwa. Soon after, the lights came on and security began to harass the mass. Bang Gangers not happy, Doom's face = Priceless.

Clan In Da Front, Let Your Feet Stomp

This time last week I was paralysed, my senses still reeling in complete shock and awe of what I had witnessed a few nights before. I’d seen about 6 threatening black men spit, scream, throw champagne towards me, holler obscenities at skankies, and generally bring da motherfuckin’ ruckus to the Enmore. These guys weren’t just any scary fellas however, they were part of one of the greatest hip hop groups in the world, gracing Sydney with their bulletproof presence for the first time together. They were the Wu-Tang Clan motherfucker, and they blew my honky mind.

The first time I listened to Wu Tang’s first (and undoubtedly best) album ‘Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)’, for the first time a few months ago, I learnt all the words in about 3 days (just sayin’). I became obsessed with the way of the Wu, their Kung Fu symbolism, spirituality, and especially funny rhymes (my favourite is Method Man’s “I make a bitch squirm for my super sperm” ha!).They even make Chess seem like a profoundly spiritual experience! So when I heard the word on the street that they would be coming to Astraya together for the first time (minus Ghostface and Method) I figured it would be one of those “I-was-there” moments, so I dragged Bekay along too even though he seems to hate hip hop (he hasn’t come out and said this, I just get those bad vibes from him. I think he’s racist (Just kidding bud-dy!!!)).

An hour before the show, while I was still screwin’ around with fruit and veggies at work, earning that skrilla, cos, you know, cash rules everything around us (dollar dollar bill y’all), I received this text from Bekay. “Stretch limo, Wu Tang decals just passes me on Liverpool street. Muthafucka it’s on!”. Safe to say, I got goosebumps, got the hell out of work and into a cab.

We were pushed for time, rushing to the Enmore to catch the last few songs of The King of Crunk, Lil Jon,who was in support. The other friend we were with, Marty, is a hip hop head and pointed out that most of the hardcore Wu fans here would be disgusted with the blasphemous choice of such a sell-out support act. But Lil Jon is undeniably fun, and I wanted to get a taste of that sweet and sexy crunk juice and hear him scream his assorted catchphrases such as, “Oookaaaayyy”, “Yeeeeeaaaahhhh”, and of course “Whhhaaaat”. His most famous song, ‘Get Low’, which I think everybody knows from Need For Speed, and I heard at a lot of bad parties back at school (you know the one that goes “3,6,9, here to grind, give it to me, give it to me, one more time”…..or something) went off at the end of his set.

One long-arse-line-waiting-for-beers-and-a-piss-break, later, we got back to the dancefloor and the place was no doubt sold out. You could barely move, and we were pretty much at the back of the front dancefloor, which wasn’t too bad (we weren’t stuck in the second dancefloor like suckas). The air was heavy with Wu fever. When the lights disappeared and their DJ, Mathematics, asked everybody to start chanting “Wu-Tang!”, with the iconic ‘W’ hand signs thrown up, that was it, the moment of truth was at hand, the killa beez were about to swarm.

Like a phoenix rising, RZA burst from the shadows in a spray of champagne that ended up on the crowd, leading his troops, Raekwon, GZA, Inspectah Deck, and two other unidentified rappers (filling in for Masta Killah and U-God, who had cancelled) into battle. Their Wu-Tang swords ready, they immediately cut into ‘Protect Ya Neck’, with everybody bouncing. Before anyone knew what was going on, this sliced that into ‘Ain’t Nuttin’ Ta Fuck Wit’, and that’s when the Enmore truly pooed its pants, losing its shit (never to be found again). There was not one person around me without a smile on their face. Here we unfortunately lost Bekay as well as my burrito dinner, when we tried to squeeze our way towards the front where the real action was, while the Wu brought out the rest of the early bangers like ‘Da Mystery of Chessboxin’, Clan In Da Front’ and especially ‘Bring Da Ruckus’ which utterly destroyed the venue. Eventually the time came for that (in)famous piano loop and Raekwon to utter the words “Cash Rules Everything Around Me”. While we were all transported to ghetto heaven for 3 minutes, our friend Marty turned to me and said ‘Oh mate, forgeddaboutit! This is a moment!’

After ‘Shimmy Shimmy Ya’, ‘Reunited’, ‘Gravel Pit’ ,other assorted Wu bangers, and a girl with no pants on but only swimmers on stage, the next ‘holy-crap!’ moment of the show came when the lights went off again and RZA asked everybody to pull out their lighter or mobile phone, of course in honour of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, all of us chanting ‘RIP ODB’. The Enmore lit up with stars, it was magic. It crossed my mind that they were just running through the motions of the show, having done this vigil hundreds of times already to a hundred other cities, but I quickly forgot about that and blocked out the negative energy. I’d like to think the spirit of ODB was in the room, being a clown somewhere.

However with giddy highs, come disappointing lows, and I must admit, the last 15 minutes of the set sucked. Raekwon “The Chef” had great hunger pains all over his face during the entire show, and disappeared out the back pretty quickly after the ODB vigil, I suspect for a cheeseburger or 4, with GZA following behind, probably to read up on Camus and smoke a blunt (I was looking forward to GZA the most, but he didn’t show much interest which kinda sucked). This left RZA, Inspectah Deck, and the other two randoms to hold the fort. RZA was the only one with any real energy, zapping life into the rest of the show by chugging champagne, running around and hollering at skankies. I naively thought they were all going to play their solo stuff, but alas they did not, and the show fizzled out from here. They left the stage for the last time quite unexpectedly. Naturally we all demanded an encore, and if they had given in, for example ran out at the last minute and dropped ‘Ain’t Nuthin; Ta Fuck Wit’ again, I swear to god the entire room would have exploded and we all would have spontaneously combusted. But the lights came on and nothing happened. I wish we had rioted. The energy was there.

Though don’t think for a second think that the show wasn’t amazing. We all left the Enmore converted to the way of the Wu with sweaty-arse shirts and huge smiles. Bekay even sent me a text after we’d parted ways at the train station, “Wu tang clan!!! Haha it was an experience that surpassed expectations!”. Word.

The RZA is probably one of the coolest guys ever, and is the first to make it into my list of Wanted Drinking Buddies He carried the show on his shoulders and had a good ole fun time while doing it. Out of all the Wu, he (and his cousin GZA) seem the most genuine. DID YOU KNOW!?: He’s also produced the score for Kill Bill, written two books; The Manual of the Wu, focusing on the philosophy and history of Wu-Tang, and recently The Tao of the Wu, which focuses on RZA’s own path to spiritual enlightenment, inspired by Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Bruce Lee, and Islam. AND He’s even appeared in a Jim Jarmusch film, in a scene with GZA and Bill “ Motherfuckin’, Ghost-bustin’ ass” Murray (it's below)! RZA sees the dopeness.

Talk about a funky bassline, with a racketeering drum set and keyboard synth artist to put some over the top pre-madonna to shame. We have The Swiss, a disco live set band with lazer sharp appendages for the cosmic kind. Signed to the Modular Agency, I came across the Radelaide three piece via a low-key online store that sold t-shirt paraphernalia for the collective (?) Really Real Records. Following their internet trail to their myspace, I remember reading them as the support act for Ladyhawkes national tour. Impressive. A talented bunch, musically and conceptually, they are actually part of the Empire of the Sun live act that recently took stage at the Parklife festival and will continue to at next year's Future festival. However I hope they have taken this break in EOS appearances and channelled the conceptually creative funnels of Luke Steele in hammering out their new EP "Bubble Bath". There are chasms of potential energy on hold here as I listen to their "spaced-out Cosmic-Disco epic" traits and therefore peg them as a future must see. More on them from the horses mouth here.
